Roderick Clayton Ray has not received any gifts yet
Ray, is are you in this photo?
You must have arrived in Graf soon after I left. The red VW that Frankel had previously belonged to Chuck "Uncle Chuckie" Schneider. Chuck and I drove it to to the running of the bulls in Spain and also to Portugal and back to Graf.
Hi Ray,
I'm not much of a social butterfly but yes I was one of the proud owners of the red VW. Like Kal implied I did buy it from Chuck, I think I paid $700 or so. I only crashed it twice but fixed it twice as well. I blame the distruction on the German "oat" thing!
Life been interesting over the years but I will have to say that I enjoyed the medevac thing and more or less have been doing it ever since. Got my Airframe & Powerplant License in 82 and been in aviation ever since. Spent the past 20+ years working with various EMS Helicopter operators; 19 with Air Methods in Denver - ended up being their Director of Maintenance the last 6 years, worked for Omniflight Helicopters out of Dallas for a year as a tech rep and I'm currently the Assistant Director of Maintenance with EagleMed in Wichita, KS. I guess I can't seem to get away from the air amublance thing.
I did go back to Germany in 1996. Went by the barracks with my wife and two daughters. Let's just say I got a lump in my throat and a little something in my eye. Miss you and all the other guys. If any sort of a get together is arranged I'd like to be a part of it.
Take care and do stay in touch!
Kim Frankl
Hi Kim, I got there about a month before you left. I was the new 71P flight ops clerk. If my memory serves me correct, you and Deaux were roommates. I hooked up with Aldo Marshall the supply sergeant when I got there and he took me Can't quit remember our 1st Sgt's name, but he was quit the character. I ended up getting out after my tour in Graf, in 1980, but decided to go back active and make it a career in 1981. Went on to infantry training and jump school. Never made it passed E-7, got hit an run over by a 2 1/2 ton truck at Ft Ord, Ca and got a disability discharge in 1990. Went back to school and worked in Program Management in the Electronics industry in the Silicon Valley for over15 years. Now working at the VBA on disability claims in Oakland. Never got back to Graf, even with my second tour in Heilbronn. But I will say Graf, was by far the best tour I ever had.
Good Day,
How is everything with you, I picked interest on you after going through your short profile and deemed it necessary to write you immediately. I have something very vital to disclose to you, but I found it difficult to express myself here, since it's a public site.Could you please get back to me on (mrjamespollard7@gmail.com) for the full details.
Have a nice day
Thanks God bless.
