That VW belonged to Chuck "Uncle Chukie" Schnieder. Chuick and I drove it from Graf to Pamplona Spain for the running of the bulls fest and on to Portugal and back. I have a slide picture of the VW in Spain and the 15th Med sticker was clearly shown…

This would explain why Kim took me on this trip not long after moving in with him.
Altough I think we had one more adventure than most on our trip. We were staying at the Patton hotel and ran into two nurses on tour and ended up spending the…
Mr. Deaux,
Interesting thing happened not long ago. I was cleaning out a closet and found my old survival vest and helment bag from 15th Med. In the bag I found a small pocket note binder with dividers, One divider was a Medic Aircraft Daily Checklist, with a list of equipment, litters, Blankets, Ambu Bag, ect. Another divider had the Pilot Call signs, Cpt Goyne Dustoff 56, Cpt Sly Dustoff 53, CW2 Gates, D/O 54, and CW2 Nueling, CW2 Wilson and CW2 Wills (can't remember Wills). Another divider had a APGAR Chart. The last divider was labled Patient Information, Injuty/Illness, Pulse Rate , B/P, State of Consciousness. etc. On one loose leaf page I found a hand written note, "Deaux 1st Medivac" 1. Seemed uncertain what to do - fire guard. 2. Does not have collar up. 3. Pay attention to what is happening outside the on take off. Watch. 4. Watch patient more carefully during walk to hospital, You supervise off loading. There was also a page with Long 1st Medivac. He did not shut his door completly until well after take off. There was also a page with some poor patients vitals, Pulse 68, CC Open Fx R arm near elbow. 0735 Pulse 58 Resp 14 IV running.
It was kind of strange to read all that from so long ago. No dates though.
Thanks Rodney. Kal and I pulled duty together and off duty we did road trips and generally hang out. Once four of us, Chuck, Kim Frankel, Kal and myself drove in two cars to Berchesgarden and spent a few days doing the tourist thing. I got some photos of Kim at the Eagles Nest. That Was a fun trip. I will put some photos up as soon as I can scan them.
You have a better memory for people than I do. I had a lot going on the last few months I was there.
Sounds like you have done well. Getting your RN degree ansd reentering the service was a smart move. I had a good laugh when viewing your pictures (and others on this site, I remember Frankl, good kid. That looks like Joe Agoun (sp?) in the backgroung in your "camping" picture. I recieved a telephone call from Joe about 12, 15 years ago. We had a good chat but he did not have a number for me at the time and I never could connect with an e-mail address he gave me. I have been unable to make contact. I have been in contact with Dave Pfennings (avionics)Phillip Copenhaver (Crew Chief) and John Schefield (medic). They may have been before your time though. Dave contacted me about a year ago and this past fall he and two of his children drove through and spent the weekend and went to a Chiefs/Raiders football game. I have several dispensary medivac pictures very much like yours, including that darn "keep off the grass" sign I hated because it screwed up my pictures. Weh I left Graf I ended up at Ft Lewis for a short time, then Fort Leavenworth. (not on the inside). Then on to Tripler AMC in Hawaii. I got out there in 1981, moved to Kansas got a job (dialysis) and like you used my GI bill to go school at KU and later (BS Healthcare Admin and later a MS in Business Admin). I am currently still working as the Director of Diabetes Services with a hospital in Kansas. My wife is an Health Information Management (medical records) Director. We live in the country on a small acreage about 45 minutes NW of Kansas City. We don't have any children but enjoy our cats and dogs. I am always glad to make contact and reading about other people fro the Army days. My four years as a "dustoff" medic was the highligt of my Army experience. I hope you make contact with Frankl and others, keep trying. If you are ever near KAnsas City give me a call so we can get togather. Later..... Kal
I do rememer you.....rookie medic, came to Graf not too long before I rotated out. Mater-of-fact I think they had you bunk in the same room I was in before I moved out to the BEQ. Good to hear from you, I remember you as a sharp kid who made me feel more confident in the future of Army medics. I do remember several people, I have often wondered what happened to everyone. I hope you have enjoyed a full and happy life. Fill me in what you have been up too all these years. I do have some pictures, will need to scan some in.
Kal
Welcome to the 15th med web page. We are glad that we are finding personnel that was sith 15th med prior to most of us. If you know of others that were with the 15th please ask them to join as well. Great to see more medics coming on board.
